{"id":2933,"date":"2022-01-28T22:15:51","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T21:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monblogeur.tech\/index.php\/2022\/01\/28\/pdp-spokesperson-arraigned-for-criticising-federal-lawmaker-on-facebook-premium-times\/"},"modified":"2022-01-28T22:15:51","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T21:15:51","slug":"pdp-spokesperson-arraigned-for-criticising-federal-lawmaker-on-facebook-premium-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/monblogeur.tech\/index.php\/2022\/01\/28\/pdp-spokesperson-arraigned-for-criticising-federal-lawmaker-on-facebook-premium-times\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP spokesperson arraigned for criticising federal lawmaker on Facebook &#8211; Premium Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"cfbc967f0983488262956e73eca9483a\" data-index=\"1\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3859091246952232\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- blok -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3859091246952232\" data-ad-slot=\"1334354390\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<p>PDP spokesperson in Ebonyi State, Chika Nwoba<br \/>The spokesperson of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peoples_Democratic_Party_(Nigeria)\">Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)<\/a><\/strong> in Ebonyi State, Chika Nwoba, has been arraigned in a Magistrate Court in Abakaliki, the state capital for alleged publication of false, malicious and defamatory materials on Facebook against a federal lawmaker from the state.<br \/>The lawmaker, Chinedu Ogah represents Ikwo\/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.<br \/>This is the second time Mr Nwoba has been arraigned within two days.<br \/>He was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/top-news\/508113-pdp-spokesperson-arraigned-in-court-for-criticising-governor-on-facebook.html\">arraigned<\/a><\/strong> on Wednesday, accused of publishing false information on Facebook against the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi.<br \/>For Thursday&#8217;s case, Mr Nwoba is accused of portraying the federal lawmaker as being unfit to be in the House of Representatives.<br \/>The prosecution said the alleged publications portrayed Mr Ogah as &#8221;greedy and corrupt, a terrorist, land grabber, deceiver, timid and non-achiever&#8221;.<br \/>After the six-count charges were read to Mr Nwoba, his counsel, Luke Nkwegu, urged the court to strike out the charges against his client.<br \/>He said the charges were brought against Mr Nwoba by the police in bad faith to keep him behind bars.<br \/>Mr Nkwegu argued that the Cybercrimes Prohibition Law of the state, under which Mr Nwoba was being tried, was not gazetted. An ungazetted law, the lawyer said, was not a law.<br \/>He prayed the court to grant his client bail.<br \/>But the police prosecutor, Mathias Eze, opposed Mr Nkwegu. He urged the court to remand Mr Nwoba.<br \/>\u201cWe submit that the validity of a law enacted by an act of parliament, however it may be, is determined by the assent of the Governor or President,\u201d he told the court.<br \/>The magistrate, Blessing Chukwu, said the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter and ordered that Mr Nwoka be remanded in police custody in line with Covid-19 protocol.<br \/>She ordered that the case file be transmitted to the state <span style=\"color: #333333\"><a style=\"color: #333333\" href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/regional\/ssouth-west\/450650-police-officer-shot-during-ekiti-bye-election-dies.html\">attorney<\/a> <\/span>general, Department of Public Prosecution.<br
