Facebook usage among older users will grow slower than it otherwise would have because of the changes, Zuckerberg said. Even with those tradeoffs, he said, \u201cI think it\u2019s the right approach.\u201d<br \/>Zuckerberg expects the changes to take years. One of the more immediate shifts could be to Instagram, which he says will see \u201csignificant changes\u201d to lean further into video and make Reels \u201ca more central part of the experience.\u201d<br \/>The shift toward video is very clearly a response to TikTok, which Zuckerberg called \u201cone of the most effective competitors we\u2019ve ever faced.\u201d<br \/>While the details are largely talk for now, it\u2019s clear that Facebook has been thinking and planning this before now. <em>The Verge <\/em>reported today on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/22743744\/facebook-teen-usage-decline-frances-haugen-leaks\">leaked Facebook documents showing the company\u2019s alarm<\/a> at seeing declining usage, with a precipitous drop predicted in the years ahead.
