A local Facebook group is giving people a helping hand this Thanksgiving holiday.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – A local Facebook group is giving people a helping hand this Thanksgiving holiday.
The group called « Everyone Needs a Helping Hand » held an event on Tuesday for families in need. With help from the community, the group boxed up 100 Thanksgiving meals to be distributed. That box consisted of your traditional Thanksgiving meal to cook at home.
Organizers say providing this meal is something the group strives to do for the community.
« Our mission is basically to help the community with resources that they need, » said co-administer Orion Roen. « A lot of it is helping the families that are in need whether it be children or adults. The group itself isn’t just for Thanksgiving or Christmas, we do things all year. The group now has over 7,000 members and when we started it there was only about 20 so it’s grown a lot in the last five years. »
The « Everyone Needs a Helping Hands Facebook page was created in 2016. Anyone can join the group.
